Genre Basics
LitRPG means Literary Role-Playing Game. These stories use game-like mechanics such as levels, stats, classes, skills, quests, loot, rankings and systems inside the plot.
Progression Fantasy is closely related. It focuses on characters growing stronger over time, but the mechanics may be less game-like and more based on cultivation, training, magic schools or power tiers.
Mechanics
